Two more days!!

I am SO excited for Christmas break! It is going to be an excellent time! I can't wait to see my family and friends! As Krista knows one of my main hopes for Christmas break is to meet Barry. I have heard so many great things!

The students are out of control this week so it just needs to be over. I learned last week that fat free ice cream means tastes like sandpaper in the mouth cream. Don't buy it!

My house is a complete mess and I need to clean it, but I'm not feeling the drive to actually do it. I checked 50 tests after school and now I'm really quite tired. This might be one of the worst blogs I've written. Nothing exciting is happening!

Enchanted

I saw the movie Enchanted again and I still love it! It mixes all of my favorite things into one movie. It has an animated section in the tradition of Disney movies. It's a musical with some excellent songs. There's a prince and a princess. I love fairy tales!! I would recommend this movie to everyone!

Also on my drive back from Sioux City I decided that grass shouldn't be allowed to grow tall enough that it looks like a deer. And all mailboxes should have huge reflectors on them so they are obviously a mailbox and not a creature. Speaking of deer, there is a (sketchy) family in town that has two dead deer hanging from the tree in their front yard. It is extremely gross and I think should be illegal. The house is a block away from the school so I see the dead deer frequently. Gross.

This is the last week of school for the semester! I am very excited for it to end!!! I need a vacation! :)

Icky Week

Things have gone downhill since Tuesday. I went to school Wednesday but had to leave before classes because I was feeling terrible. I practically lost my voice, it was horrible. I went to the doctor and now I'm on pills/cough syrup. I stayed home Wed. and Thursday. I am going tomorrow since I'm feeling a bit better. So I've used 3 sick days in just this week. I think this is the worst I've felt since a few years ago when I had mono. Ick.

still ill

I am still sick, but I went to school today. I forced myself to make it through. My voice got lower and lower as the day went on and my cough got worse. I feel a little better now, but not much. I performed in the Christmas Concert with the choir, but obviously I had to just mouth the words because I couldn't really sing. I am very ready for the semester to be over only a week and 3 days!!!! Thank goodness!

Icy Spots and Christmas Sweaters

This is how it goes with my obsessions. I am all about it for a week or so and then I forget that I'm obsessed with it. So I'm going to try to become re-obsessed with blogging. Here we go.
Last Thursday I was leaving my house as I usually do, but unfortunately I forgot that the stairs had about an inch of very slippery ice on them. I stepped onto the 2nd stair and with one slip fell down the next two, sliding across the cement sidewalk and ending up in the snow. I laughed and then noted that I had somehow landed on my right ring finger with all my body weight so that finger was pretty much out of commission for the next few days. It has since healed and now the only wounds left are the bruises on my left elbow. Oh how I love winter.
On Saturday I attended an Ugly Christmas Sweater party at Shane's house. I wasn't feeling the best so I stuck to water most of the night, but I did come in second for ugliest sweater in the girls category. It was a good time!!
I stayed home sick from school today because apparently I am one of those sickly people who never really gets over illnesses. I started feeling sick on Saturday but thought I could still attend the party, probably not the smartest idea. Sunday I pretty much slept and graded papers. This morning I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a bus after falling down the stairs. My eyes were stuck shut, I couldn't stop coughing, and my nose was completely clogged. I figured it would be best for all involved for me to just stay home. Of course I always feel really guilty staying home like I'm lying, even when I know I'm not. It's very strange. So I hope the kids did ok without me and that Dan (the principal) doesn't just think I have some long hangover.
Also I watched Holiday in Handcuffs on the family channel last night and I love it. Mario Lopez can smile at me with those dimples any time!

oh what a day

Let's just start from the beginning of my day...I was in a hurry this morning because I thought I was going to be late for school. So I hurry along and get to school, as I enter I pass a few kids, pass a few teachers, pass a few more kids in the hallway. Then I sat at my desk for awhile figuring out what I needed from the office so I get up to to go the office and realize on the way out that this whole time my pant leg was tucked into my sock. It looked quite hilarious I will admit it, but how did none of those people notice it?! The rest of the school day was pretty icky. The kids were really annoying and I am definitely not missing them anymore. Another child asked me to prom once again and mentioned that it wouldn't be weird anymore since he's now 18, let me say it would still be weird and wrong. Well, that's my day. :)

Non-exciting Sunday

Today has been a pretty non-exciting day. I went to the school and decorated my room for the holiday season! It looks pretty awesome I will admit. I watched HP3 while checking some more papers. Desperate Housewives just finished and I'm very upset. The tornado pretty much destroyed the town and I don't know dies yet?! Eek! A few of my favorite television quotes of the day.

While watching Keeping up with the Kardashians Kim went to the Tyra Banks show.
Kim: I need to try and teach my little sisters what not to do.
Tyra: Not to have sex and tape it?
I think we can all learn from this tv moment. Don't have sex and tape it. I know that I will keep this in mind for the future.

And from Desperate Housewives Gabby talking about Edie to Carlos.
Rote in hell you maggoty whore. - Gabby
I think this is a good comeback if I ever have a fight with another girl. Or at least I can think it if a high school student annoys me.

Weddings

I don't know if real bloggers write things more than once in a day, but obviously I have enough time on my hands to write about 10 per day. I'll try to keep it to 2 or 3 though. I was just cleaning out my closet and noted the 4 bridesmaid dresses I have hiding in the back. They are definitely not useful at this point. I mean, where am I going to wear these things again, unless I decide to be the weird teacher that wears actual formals to prom. I'll have to work up the courage for that. I enjoy weddings for the most part. They are normally fun. I am now going to describe a few of my favorite wedding moments. I'm skipping Karlee's wedding for now, since that's a whole book I'll write later. :)

Ok, we'll start with Amy and Jeremy's wedding. That would be last June. I was quite nervous for this one since it was my first wedding since I was 7 and in my cousin's as a flower girl. I also knew that Lindsay would be watching my bridesmaid performance in this wedding since I was going to be in hers in October. I didn't want to get kicked out. Amy's wedding was quite fun. I enjoyed almost every minute of it. My favorite part would probably be when my walking partner told me I was beautiful, but that he had a girlfriend so it wouldn't work. I will admit he had been drinking so that might have been a comment that should have stayed in, but I liked it anyway. I also had an awesome time dancing it up with Nicole and Emily.

Next we have Lindsay and Aaron's wedding. I liked my hair best in this one. I was a bit nervous since this was a Catholic wedding and they have different rules than normal (other) weddings. I made it through with only a slight stumble which no one noticed except possibly my parents. I got to walk with Bluebell also which was fun. Bluebell and I totally won the wedding party dance off!! I also had a "lovely" dance with Aaron's brother (the non-cute/semi-strange one). This was a bit of a downer since this is the only brother that I wouldn't have wanted to dance with. Anyway, the best moment was when Tanya (graduated HS together) pretty much pushed me out of the way when the bouquet was being tossed mentioning to me that she would do anything for the flowers since she needed her engagement ring back from the man who she had just had a child with. He apparently took the ring back after he figured out she was a bit odd. She really wanted it back, I don't think the bouquet guarantees that.

Meredith and Kyle's wedding is probably my favorite because I knew the most people. Of course another reason this one ranks towards the top is because of Micah. I'll explain him more later. For this wedding Nicole, Krista, and I all stayed together in a hotel and that was great fun! I also got a change to hang out with more college friends and my not cousin cousin. That would be Zac who I am still hoping marries Krista in the future. :) Let's fast forward to the reception and take a moment to discuss Micah. He is Kyle's younger brother who was around 18 at the time. We walked together, had to sit together, and had to share a dance with the rest of the wedding party. Now since the dance is a normal occurance I wasn't too scared, apparently this cannot be said for Micah. I was trying to make some conversation while dancing so I asked if he liked dancing or liked going to HS dances. To this he responded "I don't like to talk about it". I understand that there are some issues that are touchy subjects like: the death of a pet or having an extra finger, but I was not aware that dancing could be a touchy area of conversation. So thank you Micah for letting me know!

Alex and Jay's wedding was probably the most stressful because I had to travel to Minneapolis for it. Let's just start by saying that January is not a good time for a wedding in a snowy state. It's just scary. McKenna and I rode together to this wedding with was definitely a good idea. The first problem we can in contact with was when we went the wrong way when trying to get to the church and because of this we ended up around 45 minutes late for the rehearsal. Oops. I think my life flashed before my eyes more in this weekend then ever before. Downtown St. Paul driving is horrid, especially at night. I'm from Anita for heaven sake, we don't have any stop lights. Anyway, the wedding went smoothly and the reception was pretty! The real problem was the drive home when the rain/ice/snow started. By the time we got to the rediculously curvy roads we couldn't see anything. It was horrible. I am thankful that I am still alive.

Oh how I love weddings!

An exciting Saturday

So I've been spending some time trying to figure out this blogging thing. Krista has tons of fun stuff on hers and apparently I'm not smart enough to figure it out. I just finished grading around 70 poetry books so I'm taking a break while watching Harry Potter 4. I just love those Hogwarts kids. My favorite part while watching it this time would definitely have to be when Ron asks Fleur to the dance.
Ron: Don't be silly. There she was, just walking by... you know how I like it when they walk... I couldn't help it... it just sort of slipped out!
Ginny: Actually, he sort of screamed at her. It was a bit frightening.
Harry: What did you do then?
Ron: What else? I ran for it!
The best part is what Ginny says!!! The picture does not go with what I'm talking about but I like it. I can't wait for the next few movies!
